Description

The Hobonichi Techo uses 12 soft colours across the book. The TSUKI no IRO stationery series takes those colours into simple designs, and TSUKI no IRO Blotting Paper is part of that lineup.

Blotting paper is used to prevent the ink from fountain pens and other writing instruments from transferring to other pages or smearing. The thick, highly absorbent, quick-drying paper soaks up any excess ink.

The design features free-flowing lines that look as if they were drawn with a pen, along with ink splotches that appear to have dripped onto the page. As layers of colour build up each time you blot ink, the paper takes on a beautiful, ever-evolving appearance — an item that only grows in character with use.

This version is made using letterpress printing, giving it a lovely tactile texture you can feel with your fingertips. Look closely and you will notice that each sheet has its own subtly different character. Here and there, touches of silver foil catch the light with a soft sparkle.

Each pack contains five sheets, which are designed to fit inside all Hobonichi Techo books, including the Original, Cousin and Weeks. In addition to fountain pens, they can be used with any ink-heavy pen, as well as stamps and seals.

Beauty Meets Function

  • No more ghostly transfers: Rest a sheet under your writing hand and the thick, quick-drying paper takes up the surplus, so a wet nib never leaves its mark on the facing page.
  • Texture under the fingertips: Letterpress printing presses the design into the surface, so each sheet feels faintly ridged, with small touches of silver foil that flash when you tilt them towards the light.
  • It improves as you use it up: Every blot adds another layer of colour, so all five sheets slowly turn into small abstract paintings you will be oddly reluctant to throw away.
