Description

The Kuru Toga has spent years quietly solving the problem of the lopsided lead. The Mitsubishi Uni Kuru Toga Wood Mechanical Pencil 0.5mm solves it with rather more style. It is the first Kuru Toga to wear a natural wood grip, paired with a slim aluminium barrel, and the combination feels every bit as good as it looks.

The grip is turned from wenge, a dense, dark wood with a pronounced grain, and it swells very gently towards the tip so your fingers settle naturally and never slip. Being real timber, no two grips share quite the same colour or figure, and the wood warms in your hand as you write. Behind it, the blasted aluminium barrel has a fine, satin texture and a reassuring coolness.

Inside sits the Kuru Toga Engine, which turns the lead a fraction each time you lift the tip so it wears evenly into a fine point. A small resin nib damper, borrowed from the Kuru Toga Metal, softens the impact of each stroke, so the line stays steady and the lead snaps far less often.

Beauty Meets Function:

  • Lines That Stay Fine: The rotating lead keeps its point, so the last word on your page is as crisp as the first.
  • A Grip You'll Want to Hold: Smooth, warm wenge sits comfortably under your fingers through long sessions of notes or sketching.
  • Calm, Steady Writing: The nib damper absorbs pressure, so you write with less wobble and fewer broken leads.
